The News of the World has claimed Britney Spears is planning to adopt twins from China.

The newspapers gossip columnist, Rav Showbiz, wrote that Britney has told close friends she’s in the final stages of talks with an adoption agency and plans to adopt the twins soon.

Britney’s friends feel that her decision to adopt the two six-year-old Chinese twins is a bid to fill the void left by losing her sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Spears recently lost custody of her children to her ex-husband following a string of alcohol and drug-fuelled exploits and a stint in rehab.

The News of the World could not supply any evidence to support the adoption claim.
